Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas today alleged that at the behest of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, Uttar Pradesh government was creating hurdles in his ongoing 'jhadu yatra' (broom procession).
"Earlier Congressmen along with Samajwadi Party showed eggs and lathis to me but when I did not leave Amethi, the state government at the behest of Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi created hurdles in my yatra through the district administration as they wanted me to run away," Vishwas told mediapersons here.
"In a democracy everyone has the right to express themselves and take out a yatra but the officials here have stooped to goondagardi ... . But I am not the one who gets perturbed.. I will not leave without chasing away the corrupt," he said.
Earlier, addressing a meeting in Sangrampur block, he said contrary to the claims, development was not visible there as it was confined to a few pockets.
"There is a Congress-led government at Centre for the last ten years but Rahul Gandhi could not find handicapped, ex-servicemen, poor people to help them out but now when it is the time to go he has realised their plight," Vishwas said.
The money being spent by Gandhi on publicity could have helped in mending the roads, for irrigation facilities and providing houses for the homeless in Amethi, he added.
