Uttar Pradesh cabinet today gave its approval for recruiting the state's sportsmen, who have won laurels at international events, for gazetted posts along with setting up a council for promotion of exports.
The state cabinet meeting presided over by CM Akhilesh Yadav here gave its nod to the policy of appointing medal winners from the state who have competed in Olympics, Commonwealth games, Asiad and other world championships, as gazetted officers, in order to encourage sports and sportsmen of the state, an official spokesman said.
For this, 49 posts in different departments have been identified, the spokesman said.
In order to promote export, the cabinet granted its approval on setting up 'UP Export Promotion Council' to encourage exports by way of creating a favourable atmosphere, identifying new markets, quality control and packaging as per the international standards, apprising the industry with the new techniques among others for helping in export promotion, he said.
The Chief Minister had earlier today announced Rs 50,000 monthly pension to the prestigious Yash Bharti awardees of the state. The award is given to eminent persons belonging to the state in the fields of art, culture, sports, literature, medicine, journalism and social service.
When asked whether the pension would continue even if the award was returned, Yadav said, "Pension will be given to the recipients. The situation of returning of award will not come in Samajwadi regime".
Among other decisions, the cabinet also approved allotment of Nirgajni, Chittada and Salava minor hydel projects to the lowest bidder M/s B&G Renewable Energy Private Limited, Chennai for execution, the spokesman said, adding that these projects are likely to be operational by 2018-2019.
The cabinet also decided to provide 10.55 acre irrigation department land in Okhla and Jasaula to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on the right bank of Agra canal for expansion of metro, he said.
The land will be handed over to the DMRC on payment of over Rs 29 crores as per the irrigation department policy, the spokesman said, adding that the DMRC had requested for the irrigation department land for phase up of Janakpuri west to Botanical Garder (line-8).
"The cabinet also decided that in Chak Gajaira, where IT city and Cancer institute is coming up, one more hospital will be made under PPP model. The hospital will have a certain number of beds reserved for poor," the spokesman added.
