UP govt confirms invoking of NSA against Dulhera gangrape

Uttar Pradesh state advisory board has confirmed the detention of three Dulhera gangrape accused under the National Security Act, officials said today.
District Magistrate Koshal Raj Sharma told reporters that UP state advisory board has confirmed the NSA which was invoked in June against three accused -- Ahsan (32), Arif (22) and Shehzad (23).
According to the police, the victim was gangraped by five persons when she was returning to her village in Shahpur area in Muzaffarnagar on June 3. The accused were arrested following the incident.
The gangrape had sparked widespread protests in the area.
Following direction from the state government, Circle Officer Shelender Lal, SHO Shahpur, Hindvir Singh and four other police personnel were later suspended for negligence.
