UP govt declares holiday on Charan Singh's birth anniversary

The Uttar Pradesh government today declared December 23 as public holiday in the state to mark former Prime Minister Chowdhury Charan Singh's birth anniversary.
According to an order issued by Principal Secretary, General Administration, December 23 will be public holiday in the state, a release issued here said.
Charan Singh, born in 1902 in Noorpur village of UP's Hapur District, was Prime Minister of the country from July 28, 1979 to January 14, 1980. He also served as Chief Minister of the state.
