In a letter submitted to the Chief Minister, Prajapati, who is SP MLA from Amethi, said that the shortcomings cited by the high court while cancelling the district status of Amethi in its order on April 15 were the fault of the previous BSP government.
As Amethi has elected three SP MLAs out of five after the party promised to restoring Amethi's name instead of the name given by the BSP government, it is necessary that the district status be restored or else the party would have to bear the brunt of people's anger, Prajapati said.
