The state government is contemplating to move the Orissa High Court to vacate the stay order on the cancellation of lease granted to Biplab Patro, the son of a senior minister.
"The state goverment is consulting legal experts to move the high Court seeking vacation on its stay granted on the land in Unit-8 area," a senior officer in the General Administration Department said today.
The department's move came a day after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik promised action in the alleged arbitary land allotment in the state capital.
Biplab, son of revenue and disaster management minister S N Patro, had obtained a stay on the GA department's order of cancellation of lease in his favour.
The BJD minister's son was given above one acre of land at Unit-8 area here to set up a hotel project during the previous Congress regime. He was supposed to complete the hotel by 2003. But, the project did not start even after 10 years.
The state government cancelled the lease in November 2012.
The state government's plan to move the High Court seeking vacation of the stay order came in wake of the criticism from political parties.
Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh of Congress demanded an independent probe to be completed within three months into the land allotments.
The state unit of BJP had earlier demanded the resignation of Patro on moral grounds.
