US Ambassador calls on Bihar Guv, Nitish

US Ambassador to India Kenneth Juster today called on Bihar Governor Satya Pal Mallik and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at their official residences here and apprised them of the US' willingness to help the state in its journey towards economic progress.

Juster, who had arrived in Bihar yesterday on a two-day visit, met Mallik at the Raj Bhavan where he told the Governor that the US was keen on the state's development and saw huge potential in agriculture and electronics.

He also told the Governor that he was impressed by the state's glorious historical and cultural legacy as also the newly-constructed Bihar Museum, and expressed his willingness to undertake more such tours of Bihar in the future.

The Governor presented Juster with a book on Champaran Satyagraha authored by the country's first President Rajendra Prasad, an "Angavastram" and an idol of Lord Buddha.

Juster, who paid visits to Bodh Gaya and the Patna Sahib Gurudwara, besides interacting with local entrepreneurs here, also met Nitish Kumar at his 1, Anne Marg residence and lauded the chief minister for the development initiatives taken by his government.

Kumar apprised Juster about his "saat nishchay" (seven resolves) programme which aims at providing basic amenities like sanitation, roads, electricity and piped water to the remotest corners of the state.

Kumar also presented Juster with an "Angavastram" depicting the centenary year celebrations of the Champaran Satyagraha, and a memento with the inscription of the national emblem "Ashok Stambh".
