According to an official Gujarat government press statement issued here, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel announced that the US would take part in the forthcoming three-day 'Vibrant Gujarat Summit', as a 'partner country'.
The seventh edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit is scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 11.
The US participation is seen as an important development as the country denied visa to Modi, who was then the chief minister of Gujarat, for a long time.
After Modi's visit to the US, its ambassador to India Kathleen Stephens accepted the state government's invitation to take part in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit and sent a confirmation letter to the Gujarat CM, the release said.
Giving details about the development, Gujarat health minister and state government spokesperson Nitin Patel said the US government has expressed its desire to set up a booth at the Vibrant Gujarat Trade Show.
Through the release, the minister also added that the US is also keen to organise a seminar to showcase trade opportunities between the US and India in sectors like commerce, tourism and education.
