Addressing the gathering, Kateel said that Hinduism was a way of life and VHP came to its help when it was attacked. VHP had been uniting Hindus against social evils like caste system for over the last 50 years, he said.
He urged the people to participate in the Hindu Samajotsava which is to be held on March 1.
Meanwhile the Dakshina Kannada District in-charge minister B. Ramanath Rai has asked the organisers of Hindu Samajotsava to maintain peace and said strict action would be taken if the convention promotes communal hatred or clash.
