Villagers seek railway station at Chettipalayam
Press Trust of India Coimbatore About 50 villagers today staged a sit-in at the panchayat office in Chettipalayam on the outskirts demanding setting up of a railway station, police said.
Those involved in the protest said since the Pollachi-Palghat gauge conversion was completed and train services resumed, the railways should immediately take steps to set up a station at Chettipalayam.
Besides more trains should be introduced to Southern districts of Tamil Nadu, as was being operated earlier, police said.
