VMMC, UCMS resident doctors to go on strike tomorrow

Residents doctors of Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) of Safdarjung Hospital and University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) will go on a strike tomorrow to protest against the alleged highhandedness of police and administration against junior doctors in Kanpur.
The out-patient department (OPD), laboratories, ward and non-clinical services will remain suspended in the hospitals, agitating doctors said. Only the emergency services will be operational, they added.
Resident doctors of AIIMS, Lady Hardinge Medical College, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Maulana Azad Medical College will join the strike the day after.
It was decided at a meeting of resident doctors' association tonight on Maulana Azad Medical College campus.
The Indian Medical Association has also called for a strike tomorrow.
Expressing solidarity with the doctors on strike in Uttar Pradesh, and demanding action against MLA Irfan Solanki and suspension of SSP Yashashvi Yadav, resident doctors of AIIMS along with the Members of the Faculty Association of AIIMS, Students Union and Society of Young Scientists took out a candle-light vigil yesterday.
Doctors of all medical colleges across Delhi also observed a 'black badge day' yesterday as a gesture to support the ongoing strike by the doctors in Kanpur and all other medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh.
