The committee is headed by Additional Secretary of WCD Ministry, K Ratna Prabha.
In the meeting of the Committee of Secretaries (COS) held on January 23 over the issue of tackling the menace of sexual crimes against women, it was decided that a media drive would be launched to highlight the positive aspects of women empowerment against negative, indecent and stereotyped projection of women in movies, TV shows and advertisements.
The terms of reference of the committee include finalising modalities of the campaign through print and electronic media with an aim to instill a sense of respect for women in all spheres of life.
The terms also include suggesting innovative strategies to project women in a more positive, proactive and empowered manner to create maximum impact on the society and bring about a change in the attitude of people towards women.
