"We are surprised by the state's double standards. On the one hand the people in the government are sitting with the villagers and on the other hand they are out to acquire their land," party's politburo member Brinda Karat told reporters here.
She was referring to JMM chief and chairman of the ruling coalition Shibu Soren on Sunday saying that the government would not be allowed to acquire farmland at Nagri, about 20 km from here, while the government forming a committee headed by Land and Revenue Minister Mathura Mahto to discuss the controversy with the villagers.
On July 4, the villagers clashed with the police against setting up of IIM, IIT and National University of Study and Research in Law.
