We'll try to dominate India A from ball one: Hendricks

Claiming to be wiser after being thrashed by Australia A in the lung-opener, South Africa A pacer Beuran Hendricks today said his side would look to dominate India A from the very first ball in its second tri-series cricket match here tomorrow.
"I think the guys definitely learnt a lot from the last game. It was evident that our skills weren't topped up and we weren't ready for that game and it showed in how we played. But obviously learning from that experience we know what to expect now from India, what to expect from Australia, we know how they've been playing, Just to face India, make sure we get on top from ball one," Hendricks said in the pre-match press conference here.

"Plans for tomorrow's game is to rock up and make sure our skills are back and the XI on the field put in the performance they need to beat India A. Everyone's a 100 percent fit. There's fifteen guys in the field and no on in the physio's room."
South Africa lost by nine wickets after being bundled out for 171 in the opening game. But Hendricks said his teammates would be coming good in the remaining matches as some of them are quite familiar with the sub-continental conditions.
"Some of the guys are used to subcontinent conditions. A few guys have played here in IPL and Proteas tours. There's been a lot of communication in the bowling line-up on how to go about it. I think we are confident in our skills during play, in the Powerplay, middle overs and back end. Pretty confident about that, just need to go to the game and execute," he said.

Asked whether the players are eyeing selection in the senior team for the upcoming tour of India, Hendricks said for now the focus is firmly on the ongoing tri-series.

"This series here is that point, that pinnacle point where you can either make it to the next level of you can stay here and try again. It's a very important series for everyone in the squad cause we know there's an India tour coming up, but we are actually making sure we are in the moment now and making sure we prepare for India A," he said.
Asked if he rued not getting enough exposure in the IPL, Hendricks said he prefers to focus on the job at hand.

"We're not playing IPL now at the moment so I've got to focus on things that are happening here and not there. IPL is obviously a stepping stone and you get noticed on the world stage but you've got to come back here and make sure these performances count towards the next level and any other tournaments in the future," he said.
