Western Odisha continues to reel under intense heat wave

Intense heat wave continued unabated in western Odisha today while the coastal belt received some respite with the mercury dropping considerably following rainfall in some places.
Titlagarh was the hottest place in the state recording 43.5 degrees Celsius, while Bhawanipatna, also in the western region, sizzled at 43.2 degrees Celsius, the meteorological centre here said.
The maximum temperature in Sonepur was recorded at 43.1 degrees Celsius while the mercury stood at 42 degrees Celsius in Bolangir, it said, adding that at least four places recorded their respective maximum temperature above 40 degrees mark.
While several places in coastal region experiencing overnight rains, the maximum temperature in Bhubaneswar dropped to 34.7 degrees Celsius from 38.8 degrees Celsius recorded yesterday, the MeT office said, adding the state capital had received about 7.9 mm rainfall.
The maximum temperature was 35 degrees Celsius in Cuttack, while it was 33 degrees Celsius in Puri.
