Bhawanipatna in western region turned out to be the hottest place in the state recording a maximum temperature of 44.7 degrees Celsius, while the mercury stood at 43.8 degree Celsius at Hirakud, the meteorological centre here said.
The maximum temperature at Titlagarh was 43.5 degree Celsius, followed by 43.4 degrees at Jharsuguda, 43.2 degrees at Malkangiri and 42.9 degrees at Sonepur, it said.
In at least eight places the mercury level remained above 40 degrees Celsius.
Bhubaneswar received 20 mm rainfall, while 19 mm rainfall was recorded in Balasore. Rainfall in Chandbali was recorded at 33 mm, it said.
