"39000 candidates have registered on day 1 and 5600 have completed the process including fee payment," a senior university official said.
This is for the first time that the university has introduced completely online admission procedure for UG admissions unlike previous years when it used to be both online and offline.
The online registration process began at 12 PM today and will continue till June 19. Few students complained of the admission portal being slow especially from 5 pm to 6 pm but the varsity authorities maintained that they had arranged for servers keeping in mind the expected traffic on the website and the students should check after some time in case of any problems.
enrollment process following publication of each list. The merit lists for the remaining seats after admissions conclude for the fifth cut-off, will be announced by respective colleges.
The centralised Optical Mark Recognition (OMR)forms will be available on Delhi University's website -- www.Du.Ac.In -- and students will have to make the payment through Internet banking.
The fee for General category students is Rs 100 whereas for SC/ST students the admission form will cost Rs 50.
After registering themselves on varsity's admission portal, the students will be required to upload "self-attested and scanned" copies of their documents after following the mentioned instructions and then make the payment online.
The candidate will then be required to report to the college with the application form and original documents which the admission committee of the respective college will verify and deposit the originals.
An acknowledgement will be given to the student following which they will be required to pay the fee online and key in the acknowledgement number.
In case of withdrawal, the students will have to approach the college which will then report the cancellation on the university's portal, return the original documents to the student and then only he or she will be able to take admission in another college.
