Widespread rains lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh, settling the dust even as the visibility remained poor due to mist.

The visibility is expected to improve by tomorrow due to more rains in the region, Manmohan Singh, Director, local MeT office said.

The dust level was higher in most places and situation in the lower hills and industrial areas was worst.

The local Meteorological (MeT) office has warned of thunderstorm and squall in the mid and lower hills tomorrow and forecast rains and thunderstorm over the next six days in the mid hills.

It also forecast rains or snow in the higher hills and rains and thunderstorm in the lower hills over the next two days.

Kandaghat in Solan district received65 mm rains while Kumarsein and Wangtoo recorded 39 mm rains, followed by Gaggal 36 mm, Una 33 mm, Kotkhai 32 mm, Palampur 29 mm, Dharampur 25 mmand DharamshalaandPandoh 22 mm. Jhanjehli and Naina Devi-18 each, JogindernagarandSolan 12 mm, Mandi 11 mm and Kahu 10 mm.

The rains caused a sharp fall in the day temperature and Una in the Shiwalik foot hills recorded a high of 30.8 degrees Celsius against37.6 degrees Celsius yesterday while Bhuntar was hottest in the region with a maximum temperature at 34.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar 30.9 degrees Celsius, Dharamsala, Shimla 23.9 degrees Celsius, Solan 23.5 degrees Celsius, Kalpa 22.3 degrees Celsius and Keylong 21 degrees Celsius.

The night temperatures fluctuated marginally andKalpa, Manali, Keylong and Shimla recorded a low of 10 degrees Celsius, 11 degrees Celsius, 12.9 degrees Celsius and 14 degrees Celsius, followed by Palampur 15.5 degrees Celsius, Solan 18 degrees Celsius,Sundernagar 18.9 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 19 degrees Celsius, Dharamsala 19.8 degrees Celsius, Una 20.4 degrees Celsius and Nahan 21.1 degrees Celsius.
