Wild elephants trample one to death

A herd of wild elephants trampled a villager to death and damaged houses and crops in Ramnagar under Nimdih police station in the Seraikela-Kharswan district today.
A herd of 18 elephants entered the village in the wee hours of the day and damaged houses and crops, forest department officials said.
One villager identified as Gujju Mahato was trampled by the pachyderms injuring him seriously, the officials said adding he was rushed to the Nimdih health centre, where he succumbed to his injuries.
