Chief minister Omar Abdullah today said he will take up with the Centre the issue of enhancing the Hajj and Umrah quotas for private tour operators in Jammu and Kashmir.
Omar gave the above assurance to a delegation of the Private Tour Operators' Association, which called on him at his weekly 'awaami mulaqat' (meet the people).
He said he would talk to foreign minister Salman Khurshid and highlight the need for enhancing the Hajj quota for private tour operators so that more people intending to perform the pilgrimage are accommodated this year.
In his interactions with other groups, Omar spoke about his government's focus on improving road connectivity in the state to buttress development and bridge economic gaps.
"In the last four-and-a-half years, the government has concentrated on improving accessibility to remote areas and upgrading the existing road network in the state," he said.
