Prince William and Kate Middleton today signalled that the wait for their second baby could go on for another week after arranging for parking restrictions to be extended outside the hospital here.
Westminster Council had originally suspended parking outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington until Wednesday, indicating the royal baby was expected to have arrived by then.
But as the due date has long passed, the restrictions will now run until May 5 and could be extended even further if the Duchess of Cambridge still has not given birth by then, the 'Daily Telegraph' reported.
Kate is believed to be about a week overdue already, suggesting that she may be allowed to wait by her doctors before labour being induced would be next Thursday, the day of the UK General Election on May 7.
However, that date could be later if her due date was later than speculated as doctors treat two weeks after the due date as the cut-off point for allowing labour to come on naturally.
Outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, where the Duchess will give birth to her second child, some royal "superfans" have now been waiting almost a month for the Duchess to arrive.
Royal protection officers continue to patrol the hospital 24 hours a day to ensure the Lindo Wing is secure at all times, ready for the royal arrival any time now.
