A 29-year-old housewife was killed in a freak road accident here and two others injured when the rickshaw in which she was travelling was caught between a stationary truck and a speeding one coming from the rear, besides another one ahead of the auto, police said today.
The accident took place yesterday at Ghodbunder road here when the autorickshaw was hit by a speeding truck from the rear following which the vehicle rammed into another truck ahead of it which sped away. The auto due to the impact of the collision subsequently dashed with a truck parked in the mid of the road, Sr PI V S Suryavanshi of Kasarwadavali police station told PTI.
The driver of the stationary truck-- Suresh Ram Adhar (23) --was arrested on the charges of negligence as he had fallen asleep inside after the vehicle broke down and failed to flash any signal of having parked it in the centre of the road, police said.
The two other truck drivers fled the scene after the mishap and searches have been launched for them.
While the woman died on the spot, her husband and the auto driver Yogendra Pratap Singh (39) were seriously injured.
