Mukesh Kumar Banjare (30), a black-belt holder in martial art, was admitted to a local hospital after he consumed poison yesterday in front of the CM's house in Civil Line area, a senior police official told PTI.
A native of the Lakhuridih village under Sarsinwa police station limits of Balodabazar district, Banjare had arrived in Raipur for CM's Jandarshan programme to meet him seeking financial help to start his academy.
Disappointed with it, he consumed insecticide, which he allegedly brought along with him.
During the search of his luggage, a letter in the name of CM demanding monetary assistance to martial art academy and his certificates were found, the official said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that his economic condition is not good which prompted him to take the extreme step, the official said.
He is currently under observation in the hospital and a case has been registered in this regard, he said, adding further probe is on.
