Youth Cong protests outside Telecom Minister's residence

The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) members today staged a protest outside the residence of Union Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad over the government's decision to discontinue the postage stamps issued in memory of late Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.
The protesters also demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for discontinuing the stamps of late Congress leaders and said they will intensify their agitation till the government rectifies its decision.
The protesters, beating their chests, and carrying placards with messages like 'The country will not tolerate the insult of martyr Prime Ministers' tried to climb the barricades erected by the police near the minister's residence. They were later hauled up by the police.

Youth Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja said discontinuation of stamps is an insult to the late Prime Ministers.
"It is the crooked mindset of the ruling BJP Government which resulted in removal of the memory of the two martyr Prime Ministers of the country."
"They could erase it from the stamps but cannot wipe it from the memory of the people of this country. They cannot erase the good work they have done for the country. We seek immediate apology from the government," Raja said.
"Until the stamps of late Prime Ministers Indira and Rajiv Gandhi are brought back into circulation we will continue our protest," said Amit Malik, President of the Delhi Youth Congress.
