Youth dies in police custody, murder case against 2 cops

A 24-year-old dalit youth allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in police custody, prompting the department to register a murder case against two policemen, officials said here today.
The youth, who was picked up by Patehara chowki police yesterday for questioning in connection with some issue, committed suicide by consuming poison in the bathroom where he had gone to relieve himself in the night, police said.
Though SP Suresh Chandra Pandey had sent the chowki in-charge to the lines soon after the incident, on persistence of locals this morning, a case of murder was registered against the chowki in-charge and another policeman, they said.

The chowki in-charge has already been arrested, police said.
The body has been sent for postmortem and further investigation would be carried out after receiving the report, they said.
