Sessions judge A S Vanani handed down the sentence to Pintu alias Kishan Bheel who had already been convicted for the crime.
The court observed in its order that Bheel cannot be allowed to roam free in society, taking into consideration the seriousness of the crime he has committed.
"In the present scenario when such heinous crimes are increasing, there is a need to set an example by this court," the judge noted in the order.
As per the chargesheet filed by police, Bheel, a resident of Sabarmati area of the city, had lured the victim under some pretext and sexually assaulted her on September 16, 2012.
