Under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act Special judge (Mandi) S C Kainthala has sentenced Manoj Kumar, a resident of Mahakal of Kangra district, to rigorous imprisonment for four years and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on him.
In case of default of payment of fine the convict will have to further undergo simple imprisonment for six months.
The convict was nabbed police on May 14, 2009 on Bhajrala Road situated on the boarder of Mandi and Kangra districts on Pathankot-Mandi Road and 400 gms of cannabis was recovered from him.
The convict, however, claimed he was falsely implicated in the case.
The court in its 26-page order held that testimony of officials witness, mostly policemen, trustworthy and sufficient to hold guilty the convict.
The convict was earlier on bail was immediately taken into custody and was today shifted to Modern Central Jail Nahan.
