Zoomcar partners with Onfido for identity verification

Zoomcar, one of the leading self-drive mobility platforms in the country, has entered into a tie-up with London-headquartered Onfido, an identity verification provider, to verify drivers across seven major cities.

Under the partnership, the verification provider would enable Zoomcar safely rent out cars to its users, who with a smartphone can upload a selfie and a photo of their identity document, complete the verification process, allowing more people to easily join the service, thereby adding an additional layer of security.

"Onfido is a fantastic partner to work with. Its mobile-first document and facial verification are helping us achieve convenient car rental, while improving the safety of our platform," chief product officer of Zoomcar Rajesh Bysani said in a release here.

"Zoomcar chose Onfido for its machine learning, biometrics-based fraud detection and facial check for even more confidence that the right person was getting the Zoomcar keys," Bysani said.

"We are happy to support Zoomcar for simplified car rental in India, said country manager of Onfido India Nikhil Saigal said in the release.
