NSE REPORT

The Wholesale Debt Segment at the National Stock Exchange witnessed active trading yesterday following the Reserve Bank of India's decision to cut the repo and bank rate to 7 per cent and 10 per cent, respectively.

The market saw 88 trades and a volume of Rs 564.96 crore of which the treasury bill segment contributed to volume of Rs 174 crore.

Players said that the full impact of the cut in these rates will be witnessed today as the cut in rates was announced during the fag end of the trading hour.

The 364-day treasury bill maturing on April 24, 1998, was traded for Rs 99 crore at the weighted average yield of 8.7 per cent. The paper was traded at the low of Rs 99.46 and high of Rs 99.51.

The 11 per cent government loan maturing on 2002 was traded for Rs 55 crore at the weighted average yield 11.33 per cent. The paper was traded for a high of Rs 99.12 and closed at a low of Rs 98.50.

The 11.15 per cent government loan maturing on 2002 was traded for Rs 50 crore at a weighted average yield of 11.33 per cent. The paper was traded for a low of Rs 99 touched a high of Rs 99.40 before closing at Rs 99.32.

The 13.50 per cent government loan maturing on 1998 was traded for Rs 55 crore at the weighted average yield of 10.42 per cent.
