Adam ComSof Ltd (ACL), a $200 million company, has made available a Rs 2.5-crore software package "Structured Query Language Expert" (SQL Expert) at no cost to the IIT-Mumbai as part of an agreement with them today.
ACL has also identified two universities in US, and one each in Brazil and Hong Kong besides a second university in India with which it intends to enter into an agreement soon, according to ACL's marketing manager Yogesh Gupta.
The software (SQL Expert) provides technology for data optimisation and would be available for the students in the computer science department of IIT.

Gupta said, "This new technology is quite a breakthrough. The heavy load of database that large companies have, results in slower computer efficiency. This technology proactively informs you of the problems due to arise in the field of data warehousing.
The tie-up with IIT and others will be of mutual benefit as the young talent in these universities would be working on and developing the software further, making its applications system more efficient which would help us market the project more easily."
IIT-Mumbai is having a very large team (around 24 persons) working on data warehousing projects for their masters and doctorate degrees. This according to Gupta is to ACL's advantage, so it has issued more than 150 licenses making sure that more than 150 persons can work on the software at any given time.
The ACL-IIT agreement also includes three other areas of mutual co-operation resulting in technological as well as revenue enhancement.
Professor NL Sarda, department of computer science engineering, IIT-Mumbai, said, "Our association with ACL will be of immense benefit to the students as SQL Expert will help in better understanding of RDBMS (Relationship database management systems) and SQL.
This is an excellent learning tool which helps DBAs and developers enhance their coding skills. As an extension of the partnership with ACL, we will be able to access this technology, priced commercially at about Rs 2.5 crore, virtually at no cost."
