A deal for Bacardi to buy British drinks group Diageo Plcs Dewars brand for around 800 million pounds could be reached within the next few days, The Independent reported yesterday. The US Federal Trade Commission had forced Grand Metropolitan and Guinness to put Dewars up for sale as a condition of their merger last year to form Diageo. They have until June to complete the disposal. British drinks group Allied Domecq effectively ruled itself out of the bidding earlier this month. (Reuters)
