Crisil New Index Launch Today

The market value weighted index will comprise 20 public sector enterprises (PSEs) and will be called Crisil PSE Equity Index, it said. The objective of the index is to provide regulators, investors and market intermediaries with an appropriate benchmark that captures the performance of this segment of the market, as well as to provide an appropriate basis for pricing of future issues of PSEs.

The index will serve as a benchmark for the governments divestment programme.
