Moral Cleansing

Explore Business Standard

It is too late to talk of moral cleansing now. The disease has spread to such an extent that time for medication is over. What is needed is ruthless surgery.
Had the first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, hanged the black marketeer to the nearest lamp post, as promised by him on assuming power, we might not have come to such a pass. On the other hand, he condoned corruption by saying that we can either have development or a corruption-free society..As regards Mr Varmas observation that the fascist and authoritarian forces may usurp the banner of moral and social cleansing, there is no cause for worry as at this stage any person who can achieve the objective of moral cleansing is welcome.
