No Accountability

This has reference to the news item "Clearing files the Laloo way (Business Standard, September 18). It is strange that the chief minister who holds the finance portfolio and who was once considered as a prime ministerial candidate, simply puts his signature on the files presented to him by officials. In any file there may be many initials or signatures before it reaches the chief minister. If every one follows his example, then finally the file will go down to the clerk or assistant at the lowest level who has to take the final decision. And in that case, so many people in the ladder may become redundant or irrelevant. In fact, the absence of accountability has pushed India to this stage.- #include virtual="/incs/bottom.inc"-->
