As a motoring scribe I am among the privileged few who are let loose on the latest cars in the neighbourhood. That's an occupational pleasure; but there are hazards. The friendly neighbourhood fuel pumpwala was beginning to suspect that I was either (1) a car trader, (2) an underground car messiah, (3) the son of a jewel merchant, or (4) all of the above. But one day he dared to ask what I got up to when I was not driving snazzy cars around. And my explanation was enough to let loose the dormant auto enthusiast in him. From that day on I became a firm patron of that fuel station.
