Rs 85-Crore Trades In 12.59% Gilt

The Wholesale Debt Market at the NSE witnessed trades worth Rs 517.65 crore while the corporate debenture segment accounted for trade worth Rs 59.11 lakh yesterday.

There was demand for treasury bills from the State Bank of India, Global Trust Bank and IndusInd Bank on the eve of the monetary policy, said a broker. There were seven trades done for the treasury bills segment accounting to volume of Rs 64 crore. On buying interest for securities of varying maturity, the yields dropped in the morning. However, there was selling pressure in the last two trading hours and yields dropped, said sources.

The 12.59 per cent government loan maturing in 2004 showed 14 trades accounting for a volume of Rs 85 crore. The paper was traded at the weighted yield of 11.02 per cent, at a low of Rs 107.07 and high of Rs 107.22 for the day.

The 10.85 per cent government loan maturing in 2001 recorded 13 trades accounting for trades worth Rs 85 crore at the weighted yield of 10.40 per cent. The 11.75 per cent government loan maturing in 2001 was traded for Rs 20 crore at the weighted yield of 10.49 per cent. The paper was traded at the low of Rs 103.65 and high of Rs 103.85.
