The wholesale debt segment (WDM) at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) clocked a trading volume of Rs 232.27 crore. The treasury bills segment contributed to a volume of Rs 74 crore.It was a day of normal activity in the market since the call money rates were steady, and forward rupee rates were ruling at a lower band, said debt brokers at the NSE.
The 11 per cent government loan, maturing in 2002, was traded for Rs 50 crore at the weighted average yield of 12.06 per cent. The paper was traded in the band of Rs 96.45 and Rs 96.50. The 12 per cent government loan, maturing in 1999, was traded for Rs 20 crore at the weighted average yield of 11.58 per cent and the price of Rs 100.35.
The 364-days treasury bill, maturing on April 24, was in demand. The paper was traded for Rs 30 crore. It was traded at the weighted average yield of 11.75 per cent, and in the price band of Rs 98.40 and Rs 98.42.
The corporate segment saw 301 trades, and volume of Rs 44.08 lakh. The 9 per cent, tax free bonds of National Power Corporation saw two trades of Rs 12 lakh at the yield of 10.69 per cent, and in the band of Rs 94 and Rs 94.25.
The 17 per cent, MTNL bonds saw a trade worth Rs 50 lakh at the yield of 15.96 per cent, and at the price of Rs 102.44.
