With the call rates hovering between 5.75 per cent and 6 per cent, the short- term securities continued to remain in the spotlight. The short-term securities to be traded were the 364-day treasury bills and the 12-per cent central government paper maturing in 1999. The latter was traded for Rs 10 crore at a yield of 13.83 per cent. The deal, to be settled the same day, was struck at a price of Rs 100.50.
The zero-coupon bond, also maturing in 1999, saw a deal for Rs 5 crore. The trade, to be settled after one day, was concluded at a yield of 14.06 per cent. This was followed by a Rs 1-crore deal in the same security. The trade, to be settled the same day, was wrapped up at a yield of 13.91 per cent.
The 364-day treasury bill maturing on August 29 was traded for Rs 10 crore.
