The Netherlands and their story of being unlucky against Argentina continue once again as the Dutch have been beaten 4-3 on penalties after being 2-2 in regulation and extra time. 

 

The Dutch were 0-2 down before Wout Weghorst put in an inspirational effort and scored twice in the 81st and 101st minute to take the game into the extra-time. There were no goals in the extra time even as the Argentine put in a lot of effort to get through. 

 

In the penalty shoot-out, it came down to the goalkeepers. Like the previous three penalty shoot-outs in the competition so far, once again the team that went second won it as Dutch skipper Virgil van Dijk and Steven Berghuis missed the first two shots for the Netherlands. Enzo Fernandes missed the fourth Argentine shot, but eventually, Laotaro Martinez joined the likes of Messi, Parides and Montiel who had scored before to give Albicelestes an entry into the World Cup semi-finals where they will face Croatia.

Enzo Fernandes, who hit the bar in the final seconds of Extra time has stepped in to take the telling penalty for Argentina he takes a lot of time and as a result, has missed the goal post. It will contine it seems. 

 

Luke de Jong comes and scores and keeps the Netherlands alive and now Argentina must score and get this over with 

 

Laotaro Martinez comes up and he must score otherwise it will even be stevens. He is also taking a lot of time and he scores. Martinez takes Argentina to the semi-final and once again it is the team taking the second penalty that has won a shoot-out in Qatar.
