Argentina vs Korea Live Score, Hockey World Cup: Thrilling evening comes to an end with a Korean win

 

What a thrilling evening of hockey it has been once again at the Kalinga International Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneshwar. While there was a shoot-out in both the games on Sunday, on Monday it was the second game that delighted the crowd. Korea trailed 0-1 in the first quarter and then came back to get level and then get ahead 2-1 before Argentina scored twice to make it a four-goal second quarter and the first half ended 3-2 in the favour of the South Americans. 

 

In the second half, Korea equalised again in the third quarter before Argentina got head 4-3 at the end of the third quarter. The team in sky blue went up 5-3 at the start of the last quarter. However, the Asian team didn't give up and scored twice in the last quarter to finish the game 5-5. 

 

In the shoot-out, the Koreans brimming with confidence scored three out of four shots, while Argentina could get only two out of their five shots and lost 3-2.

Shoot Out 

 

It is shoot-out time and the Argentinians are going first and he has missed the shot and Korea have the advantage now 

 

Korea go next and Lee has not wasted any time in putting the ball back in the net 

 

Toscani Lucas comes in for Korea and goes straight to the Keeper who blocks it easily and Argentina miss two in two 

 

Wang hits the post could you believe it? He beat the keeper well and hit the post. Had he hit, it would have been 2-0 Korea 

 

Nicolas Keenan, who scored twice in the regulation time has scored in the shoot-out too and it's 1-1 now 

 

Ji Woo Cheon gives Korea the lad after taking a lot of time to shoot and get past the goalkeeper 

 

Maico Casella comes in for Argentina and he beats the keeper easily to make it 2-2 

 

Jung Manjae scored by dodging the goalkeeper at least four times before hitting the ball in the back of the net. Korea lead 3-2 with one attempt 

 

This is a must-score for Argentina and Ferreiro has come in to take the shot. He goes in and the Korean goalie takes a lot of time out of Martin’s hands by the time he shoots, the hooter was gone and it is Korea who will be going through to the quarterfinal. What a match it has been.

Argentina vs Korea Live Score, Hockey World Cup: It’s going to the shoot-out

 

This has been a great game and duly deserves a shoot-out, especially after the way Korea fought through the last quarter. It was 3-2 in favour of Argentina at the end of the first half and then in the second half, the Koreans draw level at 3-3 in the third quarter. Argentina took the lead again only 45 seconds later and then got 5-3 at the start of the fourth quarter. 

 

But Korea didn’t give up and scored two goals in the two penalty corners that they created to draw level again and then defended the last three minutes with all their heart to push the game in the shoot-out.

This is one hack of a crazy game as Korea got a lucky penalty corner courtesy of a very poor trapping from Della Torre and they converted their fourth penalty corner out of the six that they have got so far. The goal was scored by the Korean captain and it is now level at 5-5 with 3 minutes to go.

Argentina vs Korea Live Score, Hockey World Cup: Nicolas Della Torre gets Argentina in lead

 

After trailing in the 19th minute of the game, Argentina are back in lead in the 23rd as there have been four goals scored in four minutes in the second quarter. This goal has come courtesy of a penalty corner. Drag flicker Nicolas Della Torre hit the left of the postman and got the ball through.

End-to-end hockey here between two maverick sides. After a very quiet first quarter, Korea scored back-to-back goals in two minutes and in the third minute, Argentina came back courtesy of a great field goal from Nicolas Keenan to draw level. It’s 2-2 now

After the Argentine penalty corner, the Korean side went on the offence and got a penalty corner themselves. Variation was tried and the hitter messed up the shot as well. Then again the ball went to the Korean attackers on the right side of the post who tried to hit the ball to the goal but there was no force on the shot, the ball bounced here and there and ended up at yet another Korean player Jeong Jun-woo who eventually put the ball in the goal. 

 

The goal was challenged by the Argentines and they lost their referral.

After conceding the goal with very bad defending, Korea have done well in the first-ever penalty corner defence. The drag flick wasn’t great but the ball went straight to the waiting attacker near the right post of the Korean goal the Argentine attacker went for the goal and the goalkeeper made a brilliant save. There was another shot on the rebound he saved it again. Then the ball went for a side hit after being hit out by the Korean defenders.

The Argentinian defence will be kicking themselves as the last man defending was not able to trap the ball from a Korean pass and the ball went straight to the last Korean man near the Argentine goal post and he just put the ball in the goal to equalise. Its’ 1-1

Argentina vs Korea Live Score, Hockey World Cup: Brilliant passage of play

 

South Korea got a penalty corner which they shot at the goalkeeper with the drag-flick. The ball was rebounded and the Koreans shot again. It was saved by the goalie again and the ball went to the Argentine defender who passed it to the lone striker past the half line who was just brilliant with the ball to even pass it in the 23 to his own player who was unable to get a shot through. Brilliant passage of play.

This is a howler from the Korean defence and the goalkeeper as the ball was near the goalkeeper and still from there itself, Maico Casella just scooped the ball as the goalkeeper tried to kick the ball with both feet, but was unable to get the ball away.

With the national anthems done and the teams all ready the Koreans and the Argentines have jumped onto the pitch and world number seven Argentina and number 11 Korea are ready to go all guns blazing. So far, the two teams have met thrice in the World Cup and Argentina have won twice and Korea once.
