Enzen plans new solution

Close on the heels of launching an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution for power distribution in the country, the Bangalore-based energy and environment consulting firm, Enzen Global Solutions plans to launch a community based model for power distribution.

The proposed solution will encompass the standard processes, rigorous training, monitoring and complain redressal system among others.

The company is in the process of defining the model and hopes to launch the new solution in about next 6 to 9 months, a top executive of the company said here.

“We are defining the model and once it is over we will launch the solution which will take about 6 to 9 months time”, Satheesh Kumar, chief executive, Enzen Global Solutions Private Limited (EGSPL), told Business Standard.

The community will be involved in a significant way in this solution and the proposed model will have an economic dimension too.

The company feels that collective effort can make significant difference in the power distribution scenario and efforts are being made to make the proposed solution more participatory.

As a measure in that direction, different sections of people like self help groups (SHGs) and partly employed persons will be involved in collection, monitoring, and redressal of customers’ grievances.

However, unless reliability and quality of power are assured, it will be futile to get a positive response from the community. Keeping that in view, the company is trying to get nearer to the community psyche.

He said, the vision of the company is to be a positive catalyst in optimising the power use and maximising energy availability in a creative way.

As energy is going to be a critical element in life, Enzen is encouraging decentralisation of decision making and trying to develop different models for people. “We are trying to develop right kind of fusion prevalent in the advanced countries but in a localised manner”, he added.

Kumar said, Enzen was the first company to launch a country specific Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) for power distribution in India.

All the 10 component of the model starting from asset management, revenue management, customer care and procurement to energy management were launched at Microsoft solution centre in Bangalore. It will be launched in other cities soon.

In the second phase, the company plans to make the first ERP module more advanced. It also plans to organise series of workshops and seminars in different parts of the country to popularise this ERP solution.

The company, having presence across the country in water, power and gas segments also is working on green energy solutions using bio-mass.

Enzen, which intends to foray into the power sector in 4 to 5 states, is targeting to have 7 million consumers under its service umbrella by the end of 2009-10.
