SAS Institute (India) Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the $1.53 billion SAS Institute Inc, here on Tuesday announced the introduction of its business intelligence (BI) application software in the curriculum of ICFAI Business School (IBS).

IBS, sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India, will introduce SAS courseware on consumer intelligence, risk intelligence, data warehousing and data mining as part of its curriculum in its network of 14 campuses.

"This is the single largest academic initiative of its kind in the country," SAS India managing director and chief executive officer Sudipta K Sen said, adding that 45 leading academic institutions in India were currently using the company's application software.

Business intelligence, according to Sen, is a $33-million industry in India and is growing at a rate of 30 per cent a year. SAS academic programme strategy is to bridge the gap between academics and business. The company has 200 employees in the country spread over Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Pune.

ICFAI University vice-chancellor V Panduranga Rao said that ICFAI was introducing SAS BI solutions to empower its students with the required knowledge so that they could validate all their future business decisions with appropriate quantitative methods.

"ICFAI has always been proactive in introducing latest tools and technology in its curriculum," he said.
