Indian PC sales to log 20% growth in 2007

 1) Growth drivers for Indian PC market will be consumers and SMB preferring laptops over desktops

2) Vista impact on PC sales low, but will see uptake among consumers and SMBs buying new PCs.

3) Large businesses to delay widespread adoption of Vista until at least middle of next year;
 
4) India PC shipments to increase by 20%, Vista will have marginal effect on PC shipments
 
India PC shipments are expected to grow 20% this year. Worldwide PC shipments too, according to Gartner, are forecasted to total 255.7 million units this year - a 10.5% increase from 2006. The industry revenue is projected to reach $213.7 billion, an increase of 4.6%.

Diptarup Chakraborti, principal analyst, Gartner India, said: "The growth drivers for the Indian market will be the consumer and the SME segment, which will be pushed more by laptop growth than desktops. With greater focus on e-governance in the last budget, government spending is expected to propel the market further north." 

Gartner analysts also said PC shipments will enjoy at best a limited boost from the release of Microsoft
