"The visual communication market in India is roughly around Rs 125 crore. It is growing at a rapid rate of 35 per cent. There are some products which can be used by CEOs or entrepreneurs from their desk for personalised video conferencing and that is also catching up fast," said Chetan Turakhia, director, Intellicon.
Visual Communication is an extended version of video conferencing. It can be one-way - TV broadcast, video broadcast, video surveillance among others or two-way like video conferencing.
Intellicon already has tie ups with MTNL, Airtel and Tata Tele for EPABX products. Talks are now on with these companies for offering video conferencing as well. It had recently tied up with ITI to offer convergence solutions comprising of voice, data and video.
"Less travel, communication systems that save time and money, besides being able to see the person you are talking to are the basic advantages of visual conferencing," Turakhia added.
Through the alliance, Aethra will get a foothold in the Indian market. Aethra has been a major player in the communications industry worldwide for over 30 years, but it had been looking to enter the Indian market for quite some time now.
Intellicon, on the other hand is all set to diversify into visual communication capitalising its strong customer base and nationwide infra-structure.
Intellicon has started a new division to offer these solutions. The company has a fairly large customer base. It has 12 offices and channel partners across the country and that would be key in terms of support as video conferencing is a multi-location solution.
