Microsoft offers to start MS-ITA in Odisha

With Odisha gradually implementing information technology (IT) in different sectors, Microsoft has offered to start MS Information Technology Academy (MS-ITA) in the state.

A presentation to this effect was made by Microsoft's corporate partner (Gurukul) at a high level meeting held here today. MS-ITA helps link academic learning to real-world job skills. It also enables students to graduate with technology skills required for today’s job market, the company sources said.

The e-learning courses of MA-ITA will provide students with hands on practice via multimedia learning experience. It will enhance employability of Odia students and at the same time will facilitate employment through its corporate partners.

The company has proposed to cover around 8000 government institutions throughout the sate. It can be run in Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary levels.

The students can have access to 1100 e-learning courses through the system. The Government employees can also update themselves on e-skills necessary for e-governance through this programme. The proposed cost involvement for one institution will be around Rs 50,000 Corporate. Chief Secretary B K Patnaik has asked secretary IT to examine the details of the outcome of the proposed course.

Patnaik also asked the IT department to access whether MS-ITA would be helpful for the the state.
