Chinese electronics maker OnePlus’s mid-year upgrades, which go by name of T-edition, are mostly about minor but relevant cosmetic and hardware tweaks. But the company’s latest midrange flagship, the OnePlus 7T, brings several improvements over predecessor OnePlus 7. In terms of upgrade, the phone gets a fluid AMOLED screen of a 90Hz refresh rate, a triple camera set-up on the back, a frosted glass design, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus mobile processor, and the Android 10 operating system. On the face of it, the new upgrades should improve the user experience. But do they? Let’s find out:
The phone’s performance is top-notch. From graphic-intensive games to multimedia editing, there is nothing that the phone could not handle. Moreover, the phone’s new gesture-based navigation makes it convenient to use. Unlike conventional gestures, where you need to swipe up from the bottom side of the display, the gestures in OnePlus 7T feel much more natural – swipe up to open app drawer, swipe up and hold for app manager, swipe horizontally from either side of the screen to go back, etc.
At Rs 37,999 for the base variant with 128GB storage, the OnePlus 7T is a smartphone rich in specifications and features. Its camera might not impress shutterbugs, but other than that there is barely anything to not like about this smartphone. The phone’s vanilla stock Android user interface integrated with value-added features is free from clutter and easy to use. Its 90Hz refresh rate screen is impressive, and HDR support makes it ideal for multimedia consumption. Overall, the OnePlus 7T is a value-for-money smartphone that in no way perform anything less than premium smartphones.
