Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) today proposed setting up of a national Do-Not-Call registry to save millions of phone users the bother of unsolicited calls from telemarketing executives.Telecom companies will have to set up a mechanism to receive a request from subscribers who have opted for the Do-Not-Call service, Trai said in a statement.The authority has also proposed a penalty of Rs 500-1,000 per call for telemarketing companies that call up subscribers who have opted for the Do-Not-Call facility.
