BASF will build a vitamin A plant at Ludwigshafen (Germany) with a capacity of 1,500 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA). With this planned investment, the company wants to ensure long-term supply of its customers and to meet the growing demand of the market. The new vitamin A plant is scheduled to come onstream in 2020.

“We can make optimal use of our resources by fully integrating the new production facility into BASF’s production Verbund. This significant investment also emphasises the competitive position of the Ludwigshafen site,” said Michael Heinz, member of the board of executive directors, BASF SE.

Saori Dubourg, president, BASF Nutrition & Health, added, “A new world-scale plant will empower us to even better support our customers’ growth plans with high supply reliability and superior product quality.”

BASF is a worldwide leading producer of vitamin A for animal and human nutrition as well as the cosmetic industry.
