Pioneer Distilleries is planning to resume production at its molasses-based extra neutral alcohol (MENA) plant located at Nanded (Maharashtra), which is currently closed due to water shortage, from January 2017. The manufacturing activity at the 100 kilolitre per day (KLPD) extra neutral alcohol plant has been stopped from February 1, 2016 on account of shortage in water availability due to less rains during monsoon season in the region.
During this temporary closure, the company has started overhauling of the boilers (part of the MENA plant) and the dryer. “The said on going works are expected to be completed by December 2016 and the plant is expected to restart from January 2017,” said the company in a BSE filing on June 29, 2016.
The MENA plant generated revenue of about Rs 50.28 crore, constituting 35 percent of turnover of Pioneer Distilleries during the financial year 2015-16.
