Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions (RBEI), the wholly-owned subsidiary of the German engineering technology company Robert Bosch GmbH, on November 4, 2015 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PSG Institute, Coimbatore, to jointly work on topics of mutual understanding that include research projects, developing of prototypes and setting up of laboratories among others. Two sides will focus on healthcare, energy and mobility.

Sri Krishnan V, vice president, RBEI said, “RBEI has established strategic partnership with PSG. We have been already working together on many programs like in shaping the curriculum, installing the automotive lab, and supporting students to get mentored by Bosch technical experts. The MoU on research will take us to the next step in the industry-academia collaboration.”

Dr P Radhakrishnan, director, Nanotech Research Innovation and Incubation facility, PSG Institute of Advanced Studies (PSGIAS), added, “We are quite happy and privileged to announce the MoU between PSG Institute of Advanced Studies and RBEI; it is in-line with our vision of nanotech research application to business. The MoU is intended to leverage the synergy of the research capabilities of PSGIAS and the business requirements of RBEI.”

This move is part of a larger program designed to develop a stronger and more productive relationship between Bosch and academia, which will in turn benefit society. Bosch is also working with universities to develop a future relevant curriculum that is intended to develop skill sets across multiple areas including core subjects such as engineering and science.

Dr Gopalan Vijendran, India head of the corporate research and technology center, Bosch, commented, “We are confident that this collaboration will help stimulate research and development activities in engineering, which will lead to region specific innovation led product development for Bosch.  At the same time, it will encourage the nurturing of engineering talent, amongst both the teaching faculty and the students in PSG institutes.”
